5. Do you create made to measure staircases?

We have a range of made to measure staircases which is currently available only in Belgium. You can find documentation about it by clicking here.

All the models shown on our site are staircase kits. They can be adapted in different ways: cut of the first tread, regulation of the structure for partly metallic staircases, wedge at the base of the staircase.

Adaptations vary according to each model and the space you have available in your living area. To discover how to take measurements and verify whether the staircase you have chosen can fit into the dimensions of your available space, you can see this DOCUMENT which may help you.

You can also take this document completely filled in with your dimensions to one of our distributors so he can check that the model of your choice can be adapted in accordance with your needs.

6. What information do I need for knowing whether the staircase I like will suit the lay-out of my house?

The measurements to discover whether the staircase of your choice is suitable are as follows:

  • the height from one floor to the next
  • the height from the floor to the ceiling
  • the available space, this is the floor area available for your staircase
  • the available length and width of the hopper, that is the dimensions of the hole in your ceiling

To discover how to take these measurements and check whether the staircase you have chosen fits your dimensions, here is the DOCUMENT which might help you.

You can also take this document completely filled in with your dimensions to one of our distributors so he can check whether the model of your choice can be adapted in accordance with your needs.

7. How much does a staircase cost?

Obviously everything depends on the model of staircase and the options you are going to take.

As a general rule, a staircase in kit form is about 30% cheaper than a made to measure staircase. To discover the prices of the models which interest you, do not hesitate to contact your closest retailer; you can find him simply by clicking here.

8. Where can I see your staircases?

Many of our retailers display models of our staircases. You can rush and contact your closest retailer to find out which models he has on display.

9. Is it possible to attach a banister to an existing staircase?

With our concept for banisters and guardrails in kit form, it is entirely possible to attach a banister to an existing staircase. You can find all the details about this range on the "BANISTERS & GUARD RAILS" page.

10. When should I treat (paint or coat with oil) my staircase?

Some of our staircases are delivered with a “factory finish”; all the other models are delivered “raw”, which means they need to be treated.

Wood is an organic substance which reacts to changes in temperature and humidity.  It is therefore VITALLY IMPORTANT to treat your new staircase BEFORE putting it in place.

We recommend you to use Sogem Oil products. They are in fact specially created to protect staircases over a long period and offer you two significant advantages over traditional products:

  • a single coat of Sogem Oil is sufficient (instead of 2 for a traditional product)
  • our oils respect the environment.

You can also choose the style you give to your staircase as we possess oils in 4 different colours. For more information, visit our "SOGEM OIL" page.

11. Under what conditions (of temperature and humidity) should I install my staircase?

The installation of a staircase should be carried out in premises heated to between 10 and 20 C° and with a relative humidity of between 45 and 65 %, which in general corresponds to the temperature and humidity inside a dwelling house.

If you buy a staircase and do not intend to install it straight away, we advise you to store it in a place where you find the same conditions as indicated above. Avoid storing your staircase in an attic, a cellar or a damp and/or unheated warehouse.

12. I have lost my assembly instructions; where can I get another copy?

You can find the assembly instructions for different models from the "INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS". The staircases are listed by range and then by model.

If you cannot find the instructions you need amongst them, please do not hesitate to contact us by our "CONTACT" page.

13. Is there an assembly video for my staircase?

We have produced assembly videos for some of our staircases, especially for the Designer, Contemporary, Space saving and spiral ranges.

To discover whether the assembly video for your staircase is available on line, rush and look on our "VIDEOS" page. They are listed by staircase range, then by model.
